Spencer Chesman
A proven entrepreneur, Spencer founded igourmet.com in 1997 as one of the first pure play food ecommerce companies in the world. While CEO at igourmet.com for 21 years, Spencer brought hundreds of first time products and brands to the American palate while pioneering ecommerce functionality specialized for the food industry. He collaborated directly with the leadership team at Amazon during their launch of the food category in 2003. Working with Amazon for 18 years helped Spencer gain expert knowledge in how to market products, build brands and win the buy box on the world’s largest ecommerce marketplace. A trained engineer, Spencer’s passion extended to the warehouse floor where he personally designed igourmet’s warehouse management system to handle daily capacities in the tens of thousands of packages, most of which required a mix of temperature control applications to deliver perfection to the demanding consumer. Today, Spencer is working with the team at New Food Solutions to pioneer the next generation of ecommerce - social commerce and livestream shopping - branches of ecommerce that have already become dominant in Asia and are now rapidly gaining traction here at home.
Spencer started his career as a management consultant for BDO Seidman in New York City, then joined the technology team at JP Morgan before founding igourmet.
